Founded legally in 2005 it is the first organization at national level which is involved with the problems and concerns of over 50 year olds in Greece and has as its main aim an improvement in their quality of life.

50+ Hellas was founded by a core group  with considerable experience in research and practical issues concerning older   people (see www.sextant.gr).  Liz Mestheneos, Costis Prouskas, Constantina Safiliou and Judy Triantafyllou are the founder members.

It has its offices at CMT Prooptiki and uses its management services, as well as having its own staff member. It is developing its  membership of supporters and aims to extend its membership more widely in Greece as well as cooperating with existing associations of and for older people. The English section of the site is dedicated to issues affecting English speakers, but given our limited resources, depends heavily on everyone keeping us informed, telling us of problems and solutions which may be of benefit to others.
