Athens Strollers

The Athens Strollers walk around Athens every weekend and invite Greek and non-Greek nationals, alike.
The Athens Strollers are a hiking club, unique in 2 respects:

• we walk in nature, near and around Athens, which makes our venues quickly accessible;

• we walk for 2 ½ hours on Saturdays and 1 ½ hours on Sundays, which makes our walks attractive to families, children and dogs, even to the less fit

There is no charge for being a member or participating in a walk.

The club started over 10 years ago. All necessary information is posted early on the club's dedicated website: www.athens-strollers.gr. Here you will find detailed instructions on how to get to each walk start, the degree of difficulty, necessary equipment etc. Each walk concludes with an (optional) meal at a nearby taverna.

Festivals and Events in Athens and Thessaloniki
The two major cities have a large programme of local and visiting musicians, theatre plays, opera, musicals , art exhibitions– in other words what you would expect from any European cities. In addition  there is the Greek music and cultural scene.
The summer in particular sees the flowering of many festivals all over Greece and some events are in English or do not really require linguistic skills.

A Multilinqual Radio Programme
The Hellenic Broadcasting Corporation (www.ert.gr) offers news in 12 languages through its multilingual radio programme "FILIA" ("friendship" in Greek). The news is broadcast in Arabic, Russian, Romanian, Turkish, Serbo-Croatian, Bulgarian, Albanian, German, Spanish, French, Polish, and English.
